Chungha - Play Concept Photo |
After a lot of recent releases from Chungha, she has put out another song called "Play". However, what did I think of this song? Let's find out.
But first, if you're enjoying my content, then make sure to subscribe to my blog, and consider checking out my YouTube channel, where the video for this blog post will be.
Okay, now without further ado, let's get into the review.
The Song
First things first, what did I think of the song? Well, I actually quite liked this song from the start. The song starts off very summery and upbeat, which I really like. Some people even say that it reminds them of Chungha's earlier music releases. Also, I believe I heard a steelpan at the beginning of the song, (this may be completely wrong, however.) and I really like it, as it adds a very happy and fun vibe to the song. As for Chungha's vocals, let's be honest, they never disappoint. I really think that Chungha's vocals are really suited for this song, and I don't think I can imagine anyone else singing this song.
In this song, there was also a rap by K-Hip Hop artist CHANGMO. I quite like the rap in this song, as it fits really well and it was quite a nice addition to the song.
So, what is my opinion on the song? Well, I really like it, it's quite catchy and it makes you want to get up and dance. So, overall, I think this is a great song.
The Choreography
Next up, is the choreography. Okay, I'm gonna be honest. I kinda love this choreography. So, let me explain. This choreography just looks so fun. Every minute of the choreography, it looks like Chungha and her dancers are enjoying themselves. Just taking a look at the choreography makes you want to join in, or at least, that's how I felt.
Another reason why I love this choreography is just that it's really my style. It's got a salsa / Latin element to it and I really like it. This is definitely one of the K-Pop Choreographies that I want to learn. Also, apparently, Chungha's salsa partner is a pro salsa dancer. That to me just makes the choreography even better.
So, overall, what do I think of the choreography? Well, to keep things short, I love it, it looks like so much fun to perform, and I definitely need to learn this choreography in the future.
The Music Video
Now time for the music video. But first, if you haven't watched the music video, then be sure to watch it above.
So, what do I think of the music video? Well, it shouldn't be a surprise that I really like the music video a lot as well. Some of the scenes in the music video are really summery and some of them have a 'The Greatest Showman' vibe to them if that makes any sense at all. But nonetheless, I love all of the music video scenes. It really focuses on the choreography a lot which is quite good, considering how much I love the choreography.
Two things I especially love about this music video are:
- The dance break — If you've been on my blog for a while you should be aware of my love for dance breaks, but I really love this one because in the music video, it's so colourful and fun, and I love how Chungha gives her dancers time to shine as well.
- Chungha's outfits — We all know that Chungha's stylist is one of the best, and they proved it in this music video, all of Chungha's outfits in this music video are great.
So, my overall thoughts on the music video are that I honestly love it, and it might be one of my favourite music videos from Chungha.
My Overall Rating
So, what is my overall rating for this song? Well, if you've read to the end, you can probably tell that I really like this song, and what's even more impressive is that this is a pre-release. So keeping this in mind, I'll give this song an 8/10. Tell me what you guys think in the comments.
And that brings me to the end of my review, I hope you enjoyed it. And with that being said,
Stay Safe,
Ciao xx
