K-Pop Opinionated

Hi Everyone! I'm Back :)

So, you may have noticed that I've been gone for a week and recently I've been struggling to keep to schedule with my blog posts. So, first of all, I'd just like to apologise for not posting very often, because of school starting, it's been a struggle to balance my blog, my channel and school as well.

Also, I would like to share some of the updates I'm making to my channel and my blog. So without further ado, let's get into it.

CHANGES TO MY BLOG

So, what changes am I making to my blog? Well, first of all, the name and domain of my blog.

So, I've decided that I'm going to be changing the name of my blog, and with that comes the logo and title page of my blog. However, it's all a gradual process and you will notice the small changes once they happen.

Also, the reason I decided to change the name of my blog, is because I decided I write posts about something other than K-Pop song reviews. Because to me, that was getting a bit draining and repetitive. I would also like to discuss some K-Pop News and topics. So because of this, I decided that changing my blog's name would make the most sense.

CHANGES TO MY CHANNEL

Next up, what changes am I making to my channel? Well, in case you didn't already know, I have a channel currently called 'YeonJunie', and until a few weeks ago, I managed to keep up my upload schedule and put out reviews weekly. However, now, because of school, I might not be able to keep up my schedule as well as I used to, so because of this, there is a chance that I might have to stop my channel for a while.

I haven't made up my mind yet, but stopping uploads, for the time being, would make the most sense to me right now. If you would like me to continue my channel, however, make sure to comment down below or in my channel that you would like me to continue.

I am also considering changing the name of my channel and social media to match my blog, but that hasn't been decided yet.

Okay, so that seems to be it. If I have any other messages I'll be sure to say.

Also, if I don't upload or post consistently, you know why.

So, with that being said,

Stay Safe,

Ciao xx

After their previous comeback, Oh My God, the group (G)I-DLE decided to come back with a Summer concept in their newest song, Dumdi Dumdi. But what did I think of this song? Let's find out.

But first, if you enjoy my reviews then make sure to either allow notifications on my site or subscribe to my blog using email, so that you get notified whenever I put out a new blog post. Also, if you want the videos for any of my blog posts then make sure to subscribe to my channel 'YeonJunie', where you will find all of my uploads.

Okay, now without further ado, let's get into the review.

    THE SONG

So first of all, what did I think of this song? Well, I actually quite liked it from the beginning. It started with a unique melody and the song started with Soyeon's singing. So recently, I did a review of Hyoyeon's Dessert which Soyeon was featured in, and she also started the song singing, so I think it's nice that Soyeon has been singing as well as rapping because I do really like her singing voice.

After Soyeon starts off the song, Yuqi and Soojin continue the verse. Something that I've noticed about this song (and (G)I-DLE's music in general) is that everyone's voices are so different and so distinct. That's something that I really like about this song, everyone's voices are really different but yet they go together so well. However, one of my favourite voices in (G)I-DLE is Yuqi's voice. I love her deep and husky voice, as it's quite unique and it's something that we don't see in K-Pop often.

After the verses comes the pre-chorus. The pre-chorus is one of my absolute favourite parts of this song. I honestly don't know why I love it so much, but I think one reason is that it sounds really nostalgic. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but that part of the song and even the whole song is very nostalgic for me.

After the pre-chorus, finally, is the chorus. This is also one of my favourite parts of the song. My favourite part of the chorus has got to be the first half because I really love Miyeon's voice, and plus, the chorus is one of the most catchy/memorable parts of the song. The second half of the chorus I do like but not as much. I think the reason for this is probably the lack of lyrics, and at first, I was a bit confused by the sudden chanting of 'Dumdi Dumdi'. But that part has grown on me. And honestly, I don't know what I was expecting when the title of the song is literally 'Dumdi Dumdi'.

I guess the sudden increase of K-Pop songs with onomatopoeia for titles was a bit overwhelming for me. But I digress.

After the chorus came the rap part, and this part I was not the biggest fan of. I felt like the rap part was a bit sudden and it didn't really fit with the rest of the song that well. However, I did like it when the rap started turning into a 'song' if that makes any sense at all. But the rap has grown on me, and it's only short anyway.

Afterwards is the verses and pre-chorus again, however, I will mention that I love Yuqi's voice in the pre-chorus. (But I won't go on again.) Then after comes the chorus and finally the bridge.

The bridge is definitely not my favourite part of the song, but it there isn't anything wrong with it, I just don't like it as much as I love other parts.

After the bridge is I guess, 'the last verse', which is basically (G)I-DLE saying the title of the song over and over again. And not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's not my cup of tea, I'll say that.

Now, before I close off this section all say a brief word about the line distribution. So, I don't have anything against the line distribution because I believe that whoever is making should know what they're doing. However, in almost every comeback Shuhua has got little to no lines, which is a little bit discouraging/ upsetting for fans. But, apparently, Shuhua does not mind and/or likes having not a lot of lines, so I shouldn't complain. However, I would love to see Shuhua getting more lines in the future.

So, overall, there are some parts of this song that I like a lot more than others, however, I do like the whole song.

    THE CHOREOGRAPHY / PERFORMANCE

Now for the choreography and performance for this song. So, first of all, what did I think of the choreography? Well, if I'm being honest, I don't really like the choreography for this song. I don't know what it is about the choreo for this song in particular, but it just isn't my cup of tea. In my opinion, there aren't any overly memorable parts in this choreography except for the choreography for the chorus part. This is probably the first time I've really disliked a choreography, and I've tried to like it, but unfortunately, I can't. So, since I don't love the choreography, let's move onto the performance for this song.

So, what did I think of the performance for this song? Well for this part, I actually have something good to say. So, while watching a few performance videos for this song, I can see that the members seem to be really enjoying themselves, in this performance especially. And the fact that the members are enjoying the performance makes me enjoy it a bit more — if I ignore the choreography.

Also, another thing that I will point out is that I believe the girls have really improved in their dancing, I think the people that stood out the most because of this would be Shuhua and Miyeon. Compared to other (G)I-DLE releases, in this song, Miyeon and Shuhua's dancing looks a lot better, and in my eyes, they look more confident.

So, overall, I don't like the choreography for this song, but I acknowledge the fact that (G)I-DLE's dancing has improved, and that they enjoyed performing this song.

    THE MUSIC VIDEO

Now time for the music video, but first, if you haven't watched the music video, then be sure to watch it above.

So, what did I think of the music video? Well, I can certainly say that it is a bit different from other music videos that I've seen.

It starts off with text that is down below.

After that, it seems to show off the 'stories' of each of the members of (G)I-DLE. Then finally, after around 1 minute, the song starts.

To be honest, although the song takes a while to start in the music video, I quite like it, because it's something that I haven't really seen before, and it's as if the music video tells a story.

So, with that being said, here are my favourite parts of the music video.

Number One - The Retro Vibe

So, I'm not sure if Retro is the right way to describe this music video, but that's the only word I think works.

Dumdi Dumdi is a summer song, and it does have its Summer elements in the music video, but I really like the retro theme of some parts in this music video.

Number Two - The 'Closeness' of (G)I-DLE

Another one of my favourite parts in this music video is the fact the (G)I-DLE looked so close in the music video.

This may sound weird, but one thing that I noticed in the music video was that the members of (G)I-DLE all looked like they were enjoying themselves and having fun, which made the music video very enjoyable to watch.

    Number Three - This Outfit

So, of course, I cannot write a review without talking about my favourite outfit. And my favourite outfit from this music video is the one above.

I'm not sure why I love this outfit so much, but I just do. I especially love the top and Minnie's hair together.

So overall, my thoughts on this music video are that I love the vibe and aesthetic of this music video and that I like how the music video almost tells a story.

    WHO OWNED THIS SONG?

    So, it's been quite a while since I've done this part of my revies, since recently I've reviewed a lot of Solo artists, however, I think that the person who owned this song is;

    Miyeon.

So, I don't think it should come as a surprise that I think Miyeon owned this song. In this song, everyone was celebrating that Miyeon was finally treated like the main vocalist in this song, Miyeon got to sing the chorus and part of the bridge, and she was second in the line distribution.

Overall, I am very happy that Miyeon was able to finally show off her vocals in this song.

POLL - WHO OWNED THIS SONG?

If you happen to disagree with who I thought owned this song, then make sure to vote down below for who you thought owned this song.

    MY OVERALL RATING

So, what is my overall rating for this song? Well, there are definitely parts that I like more than others, so overall, I give this song a 7/10. Tell me what you think down below.

So that brings me to the end of my review, and with that being said,

    Stay Safe,

    Ciao xx

    Hi Everyone,

So because of my schooling and my schedule, I am not able to do a lot of song reviews, despite the great songs that have come out recently. However, I didn't want to leave my viewers with no content, so I decided to make a different style post. Let's talk Kim Woojin.

(Trigger Warning: Sexual Assault — I will try to keep this post as family-friendly as possible, however, if you are sensitive when it comes to this topic, please stop reading this post now..)

    INTRO

If you've been on Stan Twitter Recently, (I haven't, because Stan Twitter is a no-no from me, but I digress.) you should've heard about the whole Woojin situation with the sexual assault, his new company and all that. So, that's what I'm going to talk about today, so without further ado, let's get into it.

    SEXUAL ASSAULT

    Screenshots & Evidence

Recently, an account on Twitter made some posts on Twitter about things that happened with Woojin at a bar. Here are some of the posts.

    Credit: cheese stick on YouTube

As you can see from these claims, the Twitter user said that they were out with their friends in a bar and Woojin was there.

Apparently, he wanted to talk but the Twitter User and their friend said no. Despite this, Woojin didn't want to hear this.

Apparently, he even groped the Twitter User and their friend.

From the tweets above you can see that the Twitter User said that Woojin used his status as a boy group member to try and get with the Twitter User and their friend. Even though Woojin isn't a member of a boy group anymore.

In the tweets above, you can see how the encounter with Woojin really affected the Twitter User.

If you want any more information, there are a few videos online, or you can closely read the Twitter Posts above.

If you want my opinion on this, then skip down to the 'My Opinion' Section.

    Until then, let's move on.

    WOOJIN'S APOLOGY

After this series of tweets, it seems like Woojin realised and decided to put out a statement. This is what it said:

"Hello. This is Woojin Kim. Today, I am going through an absurd situation.. I am posting a post to inform the fans of the current status of both merit and merit. Someone on Twitter posted weird rumours and deleted my account.. I haven't met him, and I haven't been to the places mentioned. Fans must have been surprised a lot, but don't worry too much because it's not true. And, I recently signed a contract with a company I like, and I am preparing hard for my solo activities. The company is planning to take action against the spreaders of false facts and the company will respond afterwards, so don't worry too much. Then I'll give you another news. Thank you. "

Let's just say, fans were not too impressed, but I'll get to that in the 'My Opinion' Section.

    FAKE COMPANY

If you thought the situations above was all, no, it isn't.

In the statement above, Woojin mentions how he's joined a new K-Pop Company, 10X Entertainment. So, fans decided to take a look at it. And it seems like, 10X Entertainment has an Instagram, Twitter, and a beautiful website.

Also, it seems like 10X Entertainment put out a statement about the current situation. You can check it out down below.

"Hello. This is 10x Entertainment. We are going to take legal action against the false malicious rumors surrounding our artist Kim Woojin. Before proceeding with the legal action, we release the photos to prevent fans from misunderstanding. (Photo 1) Photo taken on March 10th, posted on the artist's Instagram on April 29th (Photo 2) Photo taken at around 1 A.M on April 29th, a photo of accessories at home (to prove that he was at home at that time) 10x Entertainment has confirmed it with our artist and will actively respond to the spread of malicious false information and defamation against the artist with additional evidence. We will do our best to prevent damage to artist Kim Woojin and his fans. In addition, if you send us related data such as SNS links and PDF files that have been posted on the artist to our mail (report@10x.so), we will proceed with additional legal action based on the data. Thank you."

So, think of this statement what you will, but if you want to hear my opinion on this whole situation, then skip to the 'My Opinion' Section of this post.

    MY OPINION

So, now for the section that you've probably all been waiting for, my opinion on this whole situation.

Well, just to get this out of the way, I did not know Woojin while he was still in the group, I only found out about him after I got into Stray Kids, y the time I started Stanning SKZ Woojin had already left. So, I might not share the same disappointment and betrayal as others. So with that being said, what dod I think of this situation?

Well, to be honest, I am in shock. I knew that this year was a wreck already, but I didn't think it was this bad.

    Sexual Assault Situation

First of all, right now I'm not on anyone's sides.

Yes, what the Twitter User says could be true, but it could be false as well.

If what they say is true then I am kind of (kind of is an understatement if I'm being honest) disgusted. I mean, a K-Pop Idol that so many people looked up to and still look up to today is doing this when the cameras are turned off.

I know nothing has been confirmed yet, but this is why people say that we don't know our idols. It's because we don't know them at all. And I'm pretty sure I don't need to mention any other scandals that prove this.

So, about this situation, I hope it gets cleared up the soon, and at the moment, I am not picking sides.

    Woojin's Apology

    Okay, now for Woojin's apology.

To me, his apology was almost a joke. I found it funny how many recreations of Woojin's apology there were online.

But honestly, the way Woojin 'apologised' for this situation was not it.

Calling a situation where someone admits to being sexually assaulted 'absurd'. And then proceeding to promote yourself and your 'company' in the same post. That is honestly so disappointing.

If you want to address a situation this serious then at least have some respect. This isn't something that you can just brush off and forget by mentioning your solo activities.

Honestly, I hope that with whatever confirmation about this situation we get, Woojin will give a better statement.

    Fake Company

Now, this is a topic that makes me laugh. Woojin's supposed company.

This situation is a whole mess in itself.

First, we have the website, and then the name, and then the statement that the company put out.

First of all, The name and logo for his website.

So, I'll try to keep this brief, but it seems as if the name and logo for 10X Entertainment are not exactly original.

The name I'm not so worried about because companies can have the same name without it being plagiarism, it's just the logo. Apparently, the logo is the same as an online furniture store. This is a little bit fishy because I don't think it's that easy to create the exact same logo as another company. But anyways...

The website. If you saw the screenshot above, you know what the website looks like, and let' just say, for an entertainment company it's not very impressive.

So, as a person with a blog, I know that Notion is an option for making websites, they just won't look as polished, since it is only a notetaking app. However, In my opinion, if an entertainment company has the funds to even open up an entertainment company in the first place, then maybe they should make some money to pay for a Wix account.... (Also, what point were '10X Entertainment' trying to get across with that emoji?...)

Anyways, we don't actually know if Woojin's company is real, or if it's just an attempt to cover for himself. But if it's the second option, then, it didn't work. Whatsoever.

This whole situation has made me tempted to make an actual website for 10X Entertainment, but I'll leave that for another day.

So, what is my overall opinion on this situation? Well, I did not know so much could happen over the span of a few days, but I guess I know now.

Honestly, I just wish the best for everyone who was either involved or involuntarily dragged into this situation. I really hope that things will end well. But until then, we'll see what happens...

If you guys liked this post, make sure to give me more requests for posts like this. With that being said,

    Stay Safe Everyone,

    Ciao xx

Blinks this year were all celebrating because Blackpink finally gets a second comeback this year! However, when it came out, some people were not too pleased. But what did I think of this song? Let's find out.

But first, if you enjoy my content, make sure to subscribe to my blog by email! Also, if you want the video version of any of my blog posts, make sure to subscribe to my channel, YeonJunie, where you'll find all of my video reviews.

Okay, now without further ado, let's get into the review.

    THE SONG

First things first, what did I think of the song? Well, at first, I didn't listen to the song, and only looked at YouTube comments, and after having no luck in the YouTube comments of the official music video (if you know, you know 🙂) I decided to look at other videos like lyric videos and line distributions.

In the comments of those videos, lots of people were extremely disappointed with the song. Lots of people hated it, lots of people loved it. I even found a very mixed opinion on this song here:

How You Like That Pt.2? Could someone explain that to me?

But anyway, when I finally listened to the song, I actually really liked it. I thought I would hate it because of what people said in the comments, but that was actually the opposite.

A lot of people said that the song was boring, too simple, etc. I honestly don't think so, I mean yes, it may be confusing (where is the chorus in this song?) and it is simple since the melody stays the same throughout pretty much the whole song, but I really like it for that.

Also, another thing I like about this song is how easily Selena fits her lines in.

In this song, since it is both Selena and Blackpink's song, it's as if Selena is the fifth member of Blackpink. Her lines fit in perfectly, and I like that she sings for more than one part of the song.

Now, speaking of parts, the beloved Line Distribution. This is the line distribution:

    Credit: random_k on YouTube

So yeah, it's not too bad if you just ignore the fact that the difference between the highest and lowest lines is 20 seconds.

But honestly, I can't help but be disappointed. Blackpink's vocalists got the least lines in a vocal song? I just don't understand. Honestly, I think if YG wants Jennie to become a Vocalist and Lisa the Main Rapper, he should change the positions of Blackpink altogether. He could stop a lot of complaints.

However, a YouTuber called PinkBangtan did a review of this song and changed the line distribution, so, you guys should check it out here.

But anyway, as for the line distribution, I'm a bit disappointed, and I hope it can be better the next time they have a comeback (if they do... cough YG cough)

Now for the next part of the song that I want to talk about briefly. The lyrics.

So, to be honest, the lyrics of the song didn't' really bother me too much until Lisa's rap parts came. I just don't know what was going through the writers' heads when they wrote this...

Snow cone chilly, get it free like Willy (Oh) In the jeans like Billie, you be poppin' like a wheelie

Brr, brr, frozen, you're the one been chosen Play the part like Moses, keep it fresh like roses (Oh)

Oh, and don't forget these lines...

Keep it movin' like my lease up Think you fly, boy, where your visa? Mona Lisa kinda Lisa Needs an ice cream man that treats her (Hey)

Okay, these lyrics may not seem bad to you. But to me, I don't know what kind of message they were trying to get across when writing this.

One line that really confuses me is the Mona Lisa Kinda Lisa line. In an Ice Cream M/V Reaction Video, I saw someone explaining it in the comments. Here it is:

    A+ for the analysis

I don't know why, but I just found it a bit funny how creative the explanation of this line is compared to the line that we actually got. But maybe that's just me.

Overall, some of the lyrics are a bit weird, but I can look past it.

So, what is my overall opinion on this song? Well, even though others think differently, I do really like this song, and I will definitely be listening to it again.

    THE CHOREOGRAPHY

Now time for the choreography, except, there isn't any.

    Yep, this again.

So, if you read my Review of BTS's Dynamite, you would know that that song didn't have any choreography either.

So, since there isn't any full choreography yet, I can't review it. So... if you want to see my review of this choreography, the make sure to stay tuned on my blog for my End of Month Review for September 2020.

But until then, let's move on.

    THE MUSIC VIDEO

Now for the music video. But first, if you haven't watched the music video for this song, then make sure to watch it above.

So, what did I think of this music video? Well as per usual, it's great.

Let's be honest, Blackpink's music videos are just great, and so high quality. This music video is no different.

Something that impresses me in this music video is that Selena and Blackpink were in different places because of you know what, but they still managed to make the music video look like they were both in the same place.

The Ice Cream music video has a very 'pink' and 'candy' aesthetic to it, and I really like it. All of the colours work together really well and overall the music video just really fits the song.

Okay, so now that you know the overall vibe of the music video, let's talk about some certain parts of it.

    First of all, the outfits.

So yeah, I have to talk about the outfits when I'm reviewing a music video, because if the outfits in a music video are WeIrD, then I don't think it will matter how high quality the overall music video is.

So, what did I think of the outfits in this music video? Well overall, I really like them. In this music video, I don't think I saw any outfits that I really didn't like. I mean, even Selena's outfits were great. However, some outfits I didn't love were these ones:

This Jennie Outfit, It's growing on me, but when the teasers came out I didn't really like it...

This Rosé Outfit — I think it's just the skirt, to be honest, It reminds me of a bird and I feel guilty for thinking that way 😅

So yeah, those were the outfits I didn't love, so let's take a look at the outfits that I particularly like.

    These are my favourite outfits:

I'm sure I could find more outfits that I like, but I think you get the idea now.

Another thing that I will mention is the wigs.

Now, I'm not complaining about the wigs, but YG did go crazy with the wigs and weaves this comeback. But I will admit that I liked the wigs in Ice Cream better than I liked Lisa's pink wig in HYLT. So, nice job YG 👍🏾

So yeah, I think that's pretty much all I have to say about the music video. So, overall, I really like this music video, I don't know if I like it better than the music video for How You Like That, but leave your opinions in the comments below!

    WHO OWNED THIS SONG?

So, now for who owned this song. So, who did I think owned this song, well if I'm being completely honest, I think the person who owned this song was...

    Selena

So, I don't know if you guys were expecting a Blackpink member, I don't know if you guys agree, but I honestly think that Selena owned this song.

I think that this song suits Selena and her vocals very well, and it honestly just seemed like Selena was the 5th member of Blackpink in the Ice Cream M/V.

POLL - WHO OWNED THIS SONG?

However, if you disagree with who I thought owned this song, make sure to leave your opinions on this song in the comments down below, and vote in the poll for who owned this song.

    MY OVERALL RATING

Now for my overall rating. So, what did I think of this comeback as a whole? Well, I actually enjoyed it, and although there are some parts of this release that I don't particularly like, I think that the goods outweigh the bads. So, keeping this in mind, I give this song a 7/10. Tell me what you guys think of this song in the comments below.

And that brings me to the end of my review, I hope you enjoyed it.

    And with that being said,

    Stay Safe,

    Ciao xx
