Review - Stray Kids' God's Menu
So, recently, I got into the boy group Stray Kids and I instantly fell in love with their personalities and their previous songs, so I was very excited when I heard that Stray Kids were coming back with a new one, so I just had to review it. Also, make sure to stay tuned for the YouTube video version of this post.
Okay, now without further ado, let's get into the review!
The Song
So, first things first, what is my opinion on the song? Well, I liked the song from the beginning. It started with a great rap from Changbin — As per usual — and continued into some vocals and some more rap. To me, this song is mainly rap centred, however, this is not a problem for me. The beat and melody for this song are intense, it gives me a trap vibe to it, but I really love it.
One thing that I'd also like to point out is the line distribution. It seems fair enough until you see Minho's lines.

Now I know that line distributions aren't everything, and I know that Minho doesn't have an extremely significant difference in lines with some of the others, and I know that he got centre time in the choreography and lines in the B-Sides, but it still seems a bit unfair to me. God's Menu is the title track and the song that will probably be promoted the most, yet Minho gets barely any screentime in the MV and only sings "Du Du Du, Du Du Du". So, to be honest, this is a bit disappointing, but everyone slayed nonetheless.
However, to conclude this section on a happier note, let me tell you about some of my favourite parts.
- Felix's "Cooking like a chef, I'm a 5 star Michelin" Line — The definition of ICONIC
- Bangchan's part before the second chorus (With the kick) — Chef's Kiss
- Changbin and Han's rap — The talent is real.
So, overall, this is a good song, but the line distribution was a bit disappointing for me.
The Choreography
Next up is the choreography.
So, with the title of the song being "God's Menu," it seems like it's going to be something about food, and the choreography doesn't fail to capture that. There are parts of the choreography that look like Stray Kids are cooking food, which I think is quite smart.
One member that I thought really stood out with the dance is Hyunjin. Now, since I'm new to the fandom, I don't know if it's like this every comeback, but I just love the way that Hyunjin did this choreography, his facial expressions are amazing and it makes the dance so fun to watch. I could not stop watching Hyunjin fancams, he just makes the dance so enjoyable.
My favourite parts of this choreography are:
- Bangchan's part (again.) — I Just love that part.
- Han's rap part — The sprinkling salt is iconic and you can't tell me otherwise.
So, overall, this is a smart and fun choreography that I think Stray Kids pulled off very well.
The Music Video
Okay, now for the music video, but beware, if you're not prepared for some complaining, then please skip ahead. Also, if you haven't watched the music video, then make sure to watch it above.
Okay, so, let's start with the positive sides.
Well, this music video is focused on the choreography, visuals and the occasionally different scene (for instance, the car scene with the girls from the Nizi Project). As said before, the choreography was good and the visuals were good, I like how each member got a cool closeup during their parts — except, not each member got it. You may be wondering what I mean, or not because I'm sure we all know who I'm talking about. Yes, you guessed it, it's Minho.
So, while watching this music video, I suddenly realised that I could not find Minho, anywhere. No close-up shots, no centre part in the choreo (I know he did get centre in the choreography but in the music video I just couldn't see those parts) and he got no time to shine, etc. This is really confusing to me because Stays were saying that in a certain teaser (which I can't find) Minho got centre time, but in the music video, that was nowhere to be seen. It's also confusing that the girls from the Nizi Project got more screentime than Minho when he's a part of the group.
I'll try not to rant any longer, but overall, it's just a bit disappointing that Minho's dancing and visuals were not shown much in the music video, but I hope this isn't the case in the future.
Who Owned This Song?
Okay, now on a happier note, we'll talk about who I think owned this song.
So, this was a bit hard for me but I managed to come to a decision. So, the people who I think owned this song are:
Han, Hyunjin and Seungmin.
Okay, so why did I pick these three? Well, let's start with Han.
I chose Han because to me, out of him and Changbin, his rapping stood out to me more — Although I love Changbin's rap, I do really like Han's rap, and also, he got to show his vocals this comeback which I really enjoyed, as Han is such an all-rounder.
Next up, Hyunjin. At the beginning of my review, I already did rant about Hyunjin, but I'll say a bit more, but feel free to skip. So, Hyunjin's dancing is just really great to me, he might be my favourite dancer of Stray Kids. Also, Hyunjin's visuals are amazing this comeback, his hair alone may have wrecked everyone's bias list. But, I'm not complaining. To me, Hyunjin really slayed this comeback.
Finally, for Seungmin. I saw quite a few Stays talking about how Seungmin's vocals have improved, and although I haven't been in the fandom for long, I thought I should add him in because his vocals are great.
However, if you disagree, feel free to vote for who you think owned this song, or leave me a comment down below.
Poll Down BelowMy Overall Rating
So, what is my overall opinion on this song? Well, apart from a few things that I'm not happy bout (which I will not get into again) this is actually a good song. However, keeping the good and bad things in mind, I'll give this comeback a 7/10. Tell me what you guys think in the comments below.
So, that brings me to the end of my review. I hope you guys survived this one and I hope you enjoyed it, and make sure to stay tuned on my YouTube channel for the video version of this post. (YouTube video is out now!)With that being said,
